Is that a.....

 CARAVAN????!!!!

Up the hill from pretty Chiado, around a corner and through an alleyway, i gasped at the sight before me.

I loved it....
I loved the makeshift caravan that had been built from random pieces of wood.
The weirdest thing about it was how homely it felt.  Stood there by itself, nameless and seemingly owner less, the most bizarre thing was that i could have quite happily made a cup of tea and sat in there lost in my thoughts.

Please don't think I'm daft, but it was beautiful!

I love that about Lisbon, that you can walk around a corner and be totally surprised!

Today, thank you to the mild weather, i wore my trusty Topshop jacket.  My boots are New Look and i just love my battered brown bag which i found at the Feira da Ladra in Lisbon.

It's about time i started capturing my jewellery.  I love rings, so from now on you'll get to see them!  It didn't seem right them always taking a backseat in my shots....
You'll start to see that whether I'm wearing silver or gold i always wear the silver band.  This is because it was my wonderful Grandmother's wedding ring and it rarely leaves my finger.  It means the world to me and I've even been known to run back to the house for it, if I've forgotten to put them on!

The kitty face ring is just deliciously kitsch and is from Accessorize and the other ring is from a tiny shop i found down a little cobbled street here in Lisbon xxx

I find it really hard to get the perfect jeans, but these from River Island, that i bought last time i was in England are an amazing fit.  I'll be raiding the racks next time i'm there!

The Mickey Mouse top i got so long ago that i can't remember where it was from!
I love clothes that reinvent themselves and get dragged out again and again.  I'm sooo glad i never threw it out!

Happy Days

Need versus Want!

You'd have thought by now that I'd have figured out the difference between 'NEEDING' something and 'WANTING' something!

I'm having a lust over shoe boots at the moment and yesterday i saw the cutest leopard ankle boots... Smiling at me from a shop window!
The thing is, is that my head took over - screaming at me that i really don't need them and my wardrobe is overflowing with shoes......
but i liked them!

As you can see, this Friday lunchtime, my head and heart are having a battle over the leopard goddesses!

Watch this space to see if they make my tootsies!!!

My guess is probably yes!!!!
  My heart usually wins!

What do you think?!!!

Happy Friday!!!

Vuittoning Alfama

Alfama is what i call quaint.....
In Moorish times it was seen as the grandest part of Lisbon, but when the city started to grow, the nobilty moved out and it was left to the local fishing community.
Now made up of many Fado restaurants and the many little streets that go up and down here, there and everywhere - it's easy to get lost in this maze like village!

On Saturday 1st November 1755 at around 940am, Lisbon was struck by an earthquake.
Now known as the Great Lisbon Earthquake, it was followed by a tsunami and fires and near destroyed Lisbon.
Alfama built on its rocky, hilly mass was saved from significant damage.

Washing hangs out on lines, zig zagging above your heads and people stop to buy groceries in the many 'hole in wall' shops.

A pretty example of the Azulejos.
There's just something about these pretty tiles that can brighten up a drizzly, grey day!

Made up of many 'beco's' (alleys), you can see how it's easy to get lost!
But eventually you'll stumble across an amazing view!

Surf's up!!!

Today all i wanted to do was go to the beach!
I adore living near the sea but we don't really come down here as often as we should....
That's always the way it goes isn't it!

Though today probably wasn't the best of days to wake up with such a desire....
It was grey and drizzly but actually strangely refreshing.
Plus the surfers seemed to be in their own little paradise and the sea was dotted with them waiting for the waves.

To live in a country that has a pretty good climate for the majority of its 365 days, means the best part of my wardrobe is made up of 'summery' things.  I always feel a bit stuck when it comes to winter and get excited when this season is pending, as it's a good excuse to go shopping!

Five years ago i was living in Oslo, Norway, but it's amazing how time makes you forget.  Then my wardrobe was brimming with an array of coats, boots and winter woollies!  Now i have enough bikinis and Havaianas to dress half of Lisbon ;)

I'm super excited tonight as i am planning my first Charliehearts giveaway!!!

Check back here in the next few days for how to enter....

Until then.... sweet dreams.
