Messy raindrops and Mr Obama....

Well the weather gets worse, since my 'Lisbon, blue sky' blah blah comment the other day, the weather has made a steady decline and today was GRIM..... It threw it down for the best part of the day and where were my Hunter wellies...... at home of course and not on my flipping feet!  I mention my Hunters as i'm actually desperate to wear them, they were a gift from my wonderful mummy and the poor things have not had, as yet, the wear that they soooooo truly deserve. Bah bah humbug ;)

So of course with a free afternoon and a miserable sky, i decided upon a trip to the mall......

Well i ask you, have you ever been searched before entering a shopping centre????  This was a new one to me.  Here i was stood outside the Centro Vasco da Gama showing the contents of my handbag to one of the many policemen lining the front of the entrance.

And why i hear you ask?! Well Mr Barack Obama is in town......

The Nato Summit is being billed as the most important meeting in the alliance's 61 year history.  Apparently Portugal had beefed up air and border security as the leaders of 28 NATO countries and other heads of state gathered here in Lisbon for its summit today and tomorrow.  I'll vouch for that!!! All i wanted to do was have a gander around Bershka!!!!!!

Centro Vasco da Gama is situated in Parque das Nacoes or "Park of Nations" (the former site of Expo 98).  It's like a different world compared to the narrow, and steep streets of old Lisbon.  The main attraction is probably the Oceanario de Lisboa (Europe's second largest Oceanarium).  It also offers water gardens, a cable car, casino, a huge concert venue, theatre and of course the 17km long Vasco da Gama bridge which stretches across the river Tejo.

More on those to come in future posts :)
