Leaving the sun well and truly behind in Portugal, we arrived safe and sound to a very wet and cloudy England on Friday evening.... So you can imagine on Saturday, we all had our fingers crossed that the heavens would manage to stay sealed for at least a few hours as we were attending another wedding. As we all emerged from the beautiful church that sits proudly in the middle of Saltaire, it was as though our prayers had been answered, the sun was straining to shine from behind the clouds and the drizzle had disappeared, setting a wonderful standard for the celebrations to commence!

Saltaire, situated in West Yorkshire of the UK, is an industrial village that was built in 1853 by Sir Titus Salt, a leading industrialist in the Yorkshire woollen industry. Built for his workers and their families, it took over 20 years to complete,building stone houses for the workers, a hospital and an institute for recreation and education, a library, a reading room, gymnasium, science laboratory, billiard room and a concert hall. For the children there was a school and a park with allotments and a boathouse.
The church (now known as Saltaire United Reformed Church) was built in 1859 and is a focal point of the 'model' village. It lies in the valley of the River Aire, at the foot of the Pennine Moors and at the entrance to the Yorkshire Dales and was paid for by Salt to ensure his workers spiritual needs were catered for.
The outfit I chose was clean and simple. I'm totally in love with this dress I had bought last month and I don't think it needed anything more than simple accessorises and nude heals.
It was a beautiful, special day.
